About Mirjam / Izih Deer Kam

From an early age, I felt a deep connection to nature. At twelve, I dedicated myself to what I call the Great Mother, Mother Earth, learning to embrace change and the natural cycle of life and renewal.
During my adolescence, I lost this connection and, like many, searched for identity through intellect and achievement. This rational focus led to further alienation, despite valuable lessons learned along the way.
My journey brought me back to the mythology and spiritual heritage of the Netherlands and northwestern Europe, where I rediscovered a sense of support and belonging. A pivotal moment occurred at my father’s passing, which marked both an ending and a new beginning for me.
My work within the Spirit of Wolf tradition as a ritual guide and applied psychologist has shown me the importance of holistic and personal approaches to healing. Many who felt unsupported by conventional mental health care have found renewed strength through shamanic and holistic practices.

I am deeply concerned about the suffering of Mother Earth caused by our current way of life. I believe that integrating modern knowledge with ancient wisdom is essential for a sustainable future.
My mission is twofold: to help individuals find balance and connection in their lives, and to foster a respectful relationship with the Earth. I call this “animistic living” the conviction that all life is valuable and interconnected.

It is my hope that we relearn our place within nature, making choices that honor our environment and each other. Through my roles in the Dutch and international community, and as a shamanka in the Spirit of Wolf lineage, I strive to contribute to this awareness and unity.

I am committed to reintegrating traditional and ancient knowledge into modern life in a realistic and respectful way, which I refer to as “Dutch Shamanism.” The Spirit of Wolf tradition provides a strong foundation for this work.

Ultimately, I believe that recognizing our shared origin and celebrating unity in diversity will lead to healing for ourselves and our planet.
