"Dagaz"

"My father is dead. I saw him leave before my eyes. One moment there, then no more. His soul rose from his body and then something broke in me. A crack in what I thought I was. Light came in through that crack, beautiful but horrible, I died with him.

Moments later I sitting in front of the river. The sun shone on the small waves. I stared at a buttercup. I don't know how it happened, but the buttercup opened up to my eyes and I saw the whole universe in its core, including myself. In that flower. I was in the flower, the flower was in me, there were no more limits ... "

Dagaz is the result of a continuous spiral in Mirjam's 29-year life. The cyclic road leads along the descent, the journey through the underworld, the climb and new dawn. It is a poetic translation of the experiences on her journey and is about sorrow, love, nature, mourning and dying, experiences of unity, her spiritual life that is shamanically oriented and about strength and weakness. It is a collection about losing and finding yourself, about the power of vulnerability and about the connection with the divine.

Dagaz is now available for € 22.90 excl. 9% VAT and excl. Shipping

“I am enjoying this wonderful book.
The author manages to find a balance on several levels.
The information on ancient traditions is broad and in-depth. However, it doesn't create a clinical theoretical framework.
The book provides many tools to start working with the 12 Holy Nights yourself, without becoming a recipe book.

For anyone looking for their own way to celebrate the darker months of the year, and who wants to root this celebration in the country's traditions.
Full of feminine energy, but I can say from experience: definitely for men too.

My recommendation: take the time to prepare for the nights with the book. The information is rich and layered. With time to prepare, the content will truly shine.

"The Holy Nights"

Traditionally, the Holy Nights are a time of transformation and regeneration, of death and new life. They mark the prelude to a new cycle for the sun and nature. Our ancestors lived deeply connected to nature and used this time to retreat into the darkness in preparation for the light.

Even now, the Holy Nights invite us to turn inward, to enter the silence and darkness within ourselves for reflection and insights. Moreover, between December 24th and Epiphany, the veils between our world and the other worlds thin, making it easier to connect with those other worlds and those who dwell there. This book offers tools to explore the healing effects of darkness for yourself.

For each Holy Night, psychologist and shamanist Mirjam van Donselaar provides ancient wisdom, information about sometimes centuries-old traditions, food for self-reflection, and ritual suggestions that help you experience the darkness and the birth of light within yourself. You'll learn about the Matrons, midwinter festivals, smoke rituals, gods and goddesses, the World Tree, runes, the source of origin, and more. You'll reconnect with your ancestors, our roots, nature, and your own soul, which is connected to the source. You'll experience yourself as one with everything around you, in time and space.

The book is an ode to the invisible world and its inhabitants, to the dark womb as a source of new life, silence, and tranquility. It's an invitation to question your life and find new balance. The Nights take you on a journey of experience and feeling. This time of deepest darkness can also have a transformative effect on you, and you'll gain a wealth of insights for all the months of the new year.

In 2022, Anthony (a student and friend) and I were interviewed by Jacob from Wisdom of Odin about shamanism and traditional shamanism within Spirit of Wolf.

In 2024, I was asked to participate in the KRO-NCRV program "Zin in Morgen" (Feel Like Tomorrow). It's about finding meaning and connection. You can watch the episode here: https://npo.nl/start/serie/zin-in-morgen/seizoen-3/zin-in-morgen_51/afspelen
